At the AGM on 4th November, it was announced that Jeff Randall has stepped down, with Terry McCaughey becoming our new President. Jeff will continue on the committee for 12 months.

David Penney is now Treasurer and the Honorary Secretary role will be shared amongst the committee until we find a successor.

Terry’s first update to members, reflecting on the AGM, is below:

“On reflection we have been lucky to have three excellent Presidents in our 12 year history in London.  Guy Watkins was our first leader and got the club off to a good start in very difficult circumstances.  Guy should feel rightly proud of his founding skills and we thank him for picking up the mantle first.  Next followed the reluctant but very detailed, knowledgeable and well connected Peter Jensen, whose legacy will be increasing the membership to sustainable levels.  Peter’s charm and commitment to the club remains unquestionable.  He left the role in good order and his planning secured a most delightful, amusing and wise counsellor in Jeff Randall.

Jeff added icing to the cake with aplomb.  His legacy will be the oversight of our first website, which now connects us electronically to the rest of the CC community worldwide.  Not to mention the procuration of a sponsor for the Cheltenham evening. As is now the custom, Jeff will stay on the committee for a further year as immediate past President.

I have been both proud and honoured to work with all of these gentlemen over my nearly 10 years on the committee.  Each has brought their own  personal strengths in the creation of a robust and financially healthy organisation.

As Jeff’s successor, I will be anxious ensure the forward momentum of the club continues. As with my previous Presidents I would ask that you will transfer the support you have given them to me and my committee.  My focus will be to continue to seek support from the membership through the attendance of events and the procuration of one or two more modest sponsors to ensure our charitable donations to worthy causes continues. If I have one wish and that would be to see more ladies join our membership and participate in the running of the Club here in London.”
