The AGM was held for the very first time at The Boundary on the Kings Road, Chelsea. Owned by a group sporting celebrities including Eoin Morgan, Brendan McCullum, Graeme Smith, Jos Butler, Sam Billings, Jamie George to name a few.

The event itself started with a drinks reception, followed by a longer than usual AGM. The President reviewed the year and events that have taken place. The Hon Treasurer, David Penney, then reviewed the finances of the Club over 2024/25. David then spoke about the second stage of our website, which will include sign-in and password capability, a payment mechanism and several other new features.

The President then presented a paper on Junior membership.

It was then the turn of Lord (Christopher) Rathcreeden, our racing Manager to reflect on the year’s racing activities. Our 3yo gelding Carbine Harvester has had a fine year winning 4 races (three in a row) and several placings. He will continue to run in the CCL racing colours for another season. He has since had two very close seconds beaten a neck each time. We are looking forward to his next win shortly. Christopher also spoke about the acquisition of a Territories colt also to be trained by member William Haggis. The syndicate has now closed and we expect him to start his racing career in the early Spring.

To round off the AGM the President made a presentation to outgoing immediate past President Jeff Randalls. Jeff has been a great asset to the club and also great fun to work with over his nearly three years as President. He has brought a number of interesting new members and also some welcome financial support attracting sponsorship in particular for our Cheltenham dinners. Thank you Jeff and congratulations on your elevation to an Honorary Member.

After dinner Richard Phillips introduced our guest speaker leading sport’s commentator John Inverdale. John started with the news of his fairly recent first hole in one and then produced the actual ball from his coat pocket. It was a very funny and polished 25 minutes, thoroughly enjoyed by a welcoming audience. The evening closed with Jim McGrath’s phantom call of the Melbourne Cup – always a winner with members. Jim has recently relocated to Hong Kong and Australia. In appreciation of Jim’s long standing services to the Club in London he has also been elevated to an Honorary Member.
