a very successful 2024 AGM at the Bluebird Café.

Family illnesses (3), last minute work commitments (1) and a rescheduled derby football match (3) saw us lose 7 members to the event, nonetheless the night went off with a bang.

It was President Jeff’s final event in the chair and he was in superb form.  Articulate and funny as always he walked us through the AGM like the consummate professional he is.

His guest, the eminent economist Roger Bootle, had been cleverly timed to follow last week’s Budget. Roger was funny, fair and precise in his revelation of recent political events with here and over the ditch.  Not the right time for such banter?  Not so, it was perfect, timely and a delight to listen to an erudite and articulate commentator.  He fielded several questions and answered all except one.  What was Jeff’s nickname in the industry?

The evening finished with the Croc’s usual phantom delivery of the Melbourne Cup.
